My Fall Fashion Black List

The Black List

TV has been making a major comeback the past few years giving us plenty of new shows to love. One of them is NBC’s break out hit The Black List. James Spader is an absolute genius (I firmly believe this role was made just for him). I’ve been glued to this show since the pilot and with the season 2 premiering Monday, to say I’m excited is an understatement.

I had to put together my own Fall Fashion Black List, a collection of 8 fashion items that will elude me and my wallet all season. Unfortunately I don’t have Red as a dad (c’mon, we all know he’s Lizzy’s dad!) so I’ll just dream for now.

Grey’s Anatomy Inspired Style

Who’s excited about the season premiere next week?!!!

This show holds an extra special place in my heart. When I left my job to stay home with my baby girl I needed to find something to do with my time at home. With a newborn who only slept for a few hours at a time, especially at night, I needed something to help keep me sane. So I logged onto Netflix and stumbled across Grey’s, a show that I never really got around to watch. With 9 seasons to catch up on, it would definitely keep me busy.

And it sure did!

I fell in love from the very first episode and before I knew it, Meredith, Cristina, Bailey, and Alex became a part of my daily life. I even devoured the spin off Private Practice at the very same time. Then every Thursday night the show was a must-see and even though I’m still heartbroken over Cristina leaving, I’m super psyched about its return next week.

So it’s only right I take a fashionably angle to the show. What makes the show so awesome is that there’s a little bit of us in every character and a fashion is the perfect way to show off different facets of our personalities.

The main character of the show, she’s the one I can relate to the most at this point of my life. As a mom, it’s so easy to step back and lose yourself because of your new role. But when we left off last season, her bff reminded her that she can’t let anyone, not even her husband, overshadow her dreams. It looks like she’s going to run with that advice and she’s not going to let anything stand between her and her medical research.

Fashion wise, she’s always had a casual sense of style, the epitome of comfy chic. She doesn’t have the time to worry about what goes with what, so versatile pieces are a must as well as a go-to makeup palette. This girl can definitely get down with that!

The Nazi is getting the recognition she finally deserves – well at least she thinks she may be! She’s finally rebounding from a dark time in her life and having gone through that myself, it’s the best feeling ever. I predict she’s going to get bolder with her fashion choices, reflecting how good she feels about herself on the inside on the outside. So what would a future board member wear? A power dress of course!

The girly girl of the whole group, I’m super excited for her and Jackson. She’s going to be a mommy and though she’s growing up I don’t see her abandoning her feminine yet conservative style anytime soon.

I don’t care what anybody says, there’s no way Cristina is not going to make a cameo appearance or two for the rest of the show. So in my mind, she’s just in Switzerland doing her thing and will come back any day now! In the meantime, I’ll celebrate her edgy sense of style that stays true to the brilliant and no-nonsense women that she is.

Do you watch Grey’s Anatomy? Who’s your favorite character?

Sons of Anarchy Season 7 Premiere Style

Sons of Anarchy Season 7

I admit I was pretty late to the Sons of Anarchy train. After running out of shows to watch this summer I finally got around to the SOA and man, I didn’t know what I was missing!  Needless to say, the last 6 seasons are very fresh in mind (I’m still mourning OPI and pissed about Tara) so being excited about the final season premiering tomorrow is an understatement. Besides the fact that the final ride will premiere on my birthday, I can finally experience the show in real time.

I never thought I would love a show about outlaw bikers, which was one of the reasons why I never tuned in from the beginning. But between the great storylines, shady characters, and a sexy Jax Teller, I’m officially hooked. I can see why my husband would love to have a Harley and I would gladly be the ‘old lady’ riding behind him.

But not without the right outfit!

A leather jacket and boot cut jeans are a definite given but you know I always need that punch of color and very big accessories no matter what the inspiration.

Leather Jacket

  • Torrid Denim Slim Boot
  • House of Fraser Pu Biker Jacket
  • Old Navy Perfect Rib Tank
  • Charlotte Russe Oversized Cut-out Medallion Earrings
  • Charming Charlie Gia Heavy Chain Link Necklace
  • 2 Lips Too Too Legacy Boots
  • Kat von D Studded Kiss Lipstick

Will you be tuning in to the season 7 premiere tomorrow night?

3 Easy, Breezy Summer Looks for the Office

One thing I do miss about working the 9 to 5 is getting dolled up and dressed for work every day. The fact that you can literally work in PJ’s gets old pretty fast! Even though I stopped doing that awhile ago, it still doesn’t make sense to wear work trousers and pumps in my home office (though my daughter would love to smear her dirty fingers on something so pretty!)

So for this post, I’m pretending I can and addressing the problem of dressing professionally for the office. Yes, it’s way too hot to wear a three piece suit and tights, however shorts and a tank isn’t appropriate either. So what’s a girl to do?

It’s all about channeling the bright colors of summer. Sheath dresses, tailored pants, midi skirts – all of the typical workplace staples can be summer worthy with the right colors. There are so many options to choose from, with statement accessories making the fashion pot even sweeter. Office wear should never be boring or stifle your style.

Just check out these three looks.

10 Summer White Dresses That Aren’t Boring

White dresses are right up there with denim shorts and maxi dresses when it comes to summer fashion. But, if you’re fashionista like me, you don’t want to wear any old summer white dress. You want one that screams style through interesting cuts, tailored fits, and girly details. You want that dress that can make a statement just as cute and bold as the rest of the colorful ones.

So where do you look?

Right here! I did all the heavy Googling for you.  You’re welcome. ;)
