Gorgeous Wedding Dresses Under $400

When I started planning my wedding over four years ago, one of the first things I started shopping for was my dress. It was the thing that just had to be absolutely perfect. I spent hours collecting pictures and when I walked into the Alfred Angelo store I was armed and ready to go. Little did I know that the dress I had to be talked into trying on became the dress. But when your girl saw the price tag – can we say major sticker shock. So I left the store empty handed only to walk back in three months later when the store told me the dress was on a major sale.

I totally lucked out when it came to my dress because spending almost a $1,000 for a dress did not jive with the budget friendly wedding I was putting together. And if you were like me and started your dress shopping, you already know that the prices for bridal wear can be a real wallet buster.

That’s what inspired today’s post. I rounded up eight affordable and beautiful dresses that are completely aisle worthy.

A Plus Size Floral Dress Styled Three Ways

No matter what the trend, Spring just isn’t complete without a floral dress. Now, I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest floral print fan. It has to be in the right colors and have the right print – not too big and modern enough to style in different ways. That’s what drew me to this Challis Ruffled Dress from Torrid. Besides the hi-lo hem that I love on any dress, the print have great colors to style with and the miss matching size of the flowers themselves are a fresh take on the season staple. After putting this post together, the versatility just can’t be denied!

Fierce OOTD: Striped Out and a Pop of Pink Pumps

Black Pants

Let me tell you the story behind these work pants. I bought them a few years ago during a crazy New York and Company sale and from the first time I tried them on I fell in love. However, over time they weren’t loving me back.  They got tighter and tighter, until I gained enough weight that I had to retire them to the back of the closet until I could wear them again. Fast forward to today and not only do they fit, they’re actually a little loose on me. This healthy lifestyle thing is really paying off!

Trousers: New York and Company / Striped Tee: Old / Pink Pumps: Nine West

Since I’m not working in an office anymore, I’m trying to find ways to breathe new life into my work wear without looking overdone.By pairing my work pants with more casual pants and fun accessories, I can come up with outfits that work outside of the office whether it’s lunch out with friends or a leisurely trip to the mall.

This shirt is another wardrobe flashback, living in the recesses of my dresser drawer until now. It fits well enough that I can even tuck it inside my pants. Man I feel confident enough to tuck any type of shirt in my pants for that matter!

Black Statement Necklace: Beya / Silver and Pearl Stud Earrings: Charlotte Russe / Pearl Stretch Braclets: Charlotte Russe

You know I have to have my pop of color somewhere so I had to rock this outfit with my hot pink pumps. A nice little fashion surprise, don’t you think?

How to do re-purpose clothes you haven’t worn in awhile?

Fierce OOTD: A Slouchy Tee to Switch Things Up

T-shirt and JeansIt’s been a year since I left the regular working world and I still find it hard to break out of the boring, comfy clothes routine. Work out gear, sweatpants, old tees – that’s pretty much how I roll these days. I have to get better with that, switch things up from time to time, especially when I’m two seconds from falling asleep. Late nights and early mornings can make for an easy sweatpants day but doing that only makes you feel even more tired. The same way makeup can make you look more awake than you are, the right outfit can make you look more put together than you feel.

Enter my slouchy tee.

Fashion for Women

Blue Slouchy T-Shirt: DIY / White Ribbed Tank: Old Navy / Sweatheart Jeans: Old Navy / Black Sneakers: Reebok

I actually made this a few years back from a cheap t-shirt from Micheal’s and some iron on letters. I put it on when I want to feel a little sassy and channel my inner-80’s baby. To keep things PG, I layered it over a tank. These jeans are a style step up from the yoga pants but I just can’t give up my sneakers. (My little girl’s a runner!)

Natural Hair

Blue Silk Scarf: Goodwill / Silver Drop Earrings: Beya / Horn Necklace: Forever 21

One of the things I love about accessories is that they can dress up an outfit in two seconds. Scarves are perfect for the days when I’m not in the mood to do anything with my hair (my curly puff was getting kinda of old!). Throw on some earrings and a long, pendant necklace and I actually look like I’m going somewhere other than my daughter’s Story Time session at the library.

So tell me, how do you get out of your fashion rut?
