I’ve always been a fan of Neutrogena. My favorite products from them are their makeup wipes (so much so I won’t use anything else!) and their Night Calming Cleanser which I can’t find anymore (insert sad face). When I ran out of my normal cleanser, I sent the hubby out and he came back with this – The Deep Clean Gentle Scrub Cleanser. At the time, my pregnancy was winding down and my skin was going bizerk so I needed something that was going to help clear things up without being too harsh. This oil free cleanser has Beta Hydroxy that gets deep into y pores to get out all the excess oil and dirt. The little microbeads are there to exfoliate the dead skin away for soft and smooth skin.
The cleanser itself is light and creamy loaded with orange microbeads. As a cleanser it’s excellent, keeping my face clear of any blemishes or major breakouts. It’s also a great exfoliator, leaving my skin soft , rid of any dead skin as well as taking care of any pimple that does decide to rear its ugly head. A dime-size amount gets the job done, while putting too much will have you rinsing it off a lot harder. I wish it didn’t have so many microbeads though because if I don’t rinse thoroughly, some are left behind. Other than that, it’s a good product and does what it says!

This New Year isn’t playing any games because busy doesn’t even describe what’s going on in my life right now. Some days I just feel like throwing on a hat, slapping on some moisturizer and just heading out the door. However, I don’t think my day job would be too cool with that and I’m a firm believer that looking your best on the outside, even when you feel like poo on the inside, will help lift your mood. So I’ve been keeping my hair and makeup clean, polished and super easy. Days like this call for cream shadow and a trustee headband!
- Mary Kay Cream Foundation in Bronze
- Mary Kay Eyesicles Cream Shadow in Island Bronze
- Black Eyeliner and Mascara from Neutrogena
- Lipstick in Copper Charm from Maybelline
- Avon Cream Blush in Pink Melon
For the past two weeks, I’ve been twisting my hair after washing and one day when I was in the shower my hair got super mad at me aka it started breaking like crazy! Since then I went back to my old ways, washing, conditioning, putting on some hair product and leaving it alone! I’m happy to report that the breakage has been drastically reduced. So in this look, I’m rocking my curls as they naturally are. To help put it up into this curly poof, I took an old headband, cut it, and tied my hair with it while gently smoothing down the sides. To add a cute little touch, I went with these hair pins from H&M.
What’s your go-to look when you’re super busy?

Blue is one of my absolute favorite colors and when I started getting into makeup, my first smokey eye was with blue shadows and I was hooked! It can be bold or it can be subtle yet making a statement all the same. So I had to feature it in today’s Beauty Look of the Day.
- Bright Blue shadow pressed on the lids (e.l.f)
- Sparkly Blue Green shadow swept onto the crease and blended lightly onto the brow bone (e.l.f)
- Dark Blue shadow on the outer crease (Too Faced)
- Finished off with black liner and mascara (Neutrogena)
- Kept the lips muted with Sweet Raisin Lip Gloss (Mary Kay)
Now for the Truth: I was not too thrilled with how my hair came out. I washed and deep conditioned my hair, did flat twists using Shea Moisture’s Curling Smoothie and Coconut Oil hairdress, and let my hair dry. I liked how the curls came out but my hair had no volume whatsoever. It just laid there all flat and boring. When I came home from work I tousled my hair a bit with my finger tips and it looked a whole lot better!

As my schedule gets crazier and crazier I find my beauty routine getting a lot simpler these days. When I first started blogging I was wearing a different combo of eyeshadow everyday and now…well…it’s more reserved for special occasions. Instead, I’ve been going for a simple liner, mascara, and a neutral cream shadow. So when Neutrogena reached out and asked me to review their eyeliner, mascara, and lip balm, it couldn’t be more timely! The holidays were crazy and the first week of the year was crazier so I hoped these products could help me look put together (even while struggling to get it together!)
Nourishing eyeliner in Cosmic Black (7.49): Olive oil and Rainforest Shea Butter give this eye product it’s nourishing qualities while a built in sharpener and smudger allows you to get a precise line for a day look and a great smudge for a smokey eye. This line was really easy to use, gliding on smooth and giving you great color without having to reapply. It helps my eyes appear brighter and bigger even when I’m not wearing any kind of eyeshadow. I also love the fact that the eyeliner stays put all day without any fading.
Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black ($7.49): This product aims to build your lashes from the inside out, with Olive to penetrate each lash and give it volume while Sweet Almond helps keep them protected on the outside. Like the liner, it gave my lashes great color and made my eyes look bright. As for volume, it didn’t give me as much as this mascara does however I don’t need that mega length for everyday. I was very pleased with this mascara and it has easily replaced my daytime one.
Revitalizing Lip Balm in Sheer Shimmer ($7.19): This cold snap has been especially unkind to my lips this past week so my lips needed some extra TLC and this balm was perfect for that! They left my pout feeling really soft and I even noticed an improvement in their condition even when I didn’t have it on. It has SPF 20 which is a big plus and comes in six fun shades. This shade is a great nude color that would look great on lighter skin. As for me, I couldn’t pile it on like I wanted to because it was too light for me, so instead I add color to it using one of my favorite lip glosses or lip stick. I think the Sunny Berry would be a great color for me to wear alone.
I was very impressed with these products and they have already made a place in my makeup rotation!
