Bringing My Curls Back To Life with One N Only’s Argan Oil Hydrating Mask

Deep Conditioning MaskI was seriously late to the deep conditioning party and honestly I didn’t know what I was thinking! Every since I started incorporating it into my natural hair routine, I’ve noticed a huge difference. My hair stays so moisturized that I don’t even need to apply styling products throughout the week. My curls are healthier and I can count more good hair days than bad. A great deep conditioner is crucial to say the least, setting the beauty tone for the rest of my hair week. I’ve used some great ones that leave my hair so soft it should be a crime and others that did a so-so job?

So where does One N Only’s Argan Oil Hydrating Mask fit in the scheme of things?

Two words: Ah-mazing!

Just like their styling mousse, I was floored by how well this hair mask performed, especially since it doesn’t require any type of heat. Formulated with Moroccan Argan Oil, this rich conditioning treatment restores hair to its healthy and moisturized glory, improving elasticity and protecting it from free radicals. All it takes is five to seven minutes and a quick rinse and you can see an immediate difference. My hair is crazy soft when I step out of the shower and seriously stays that way until wash day the following week. I don’t need to apply any moisturizing products whatsoever (just a little gel for these edges cuz girl…that fuzz is not cute!). When does come time to wash my hair again, my strands are much easier to detangle giving great slip and shedding is kept to a minimum. Even the little fairy knots that plagued my beauty life for the last few weeks were nowhere to be seen.

I can go on but honestly I would just be repeating myself. This hair mask is amazing and perfect for a busy girl like me who doesn’t always have time for a major deep conditioning session.

Fierce Hair: Short and Sassy

I know I’ve talked about Fall Hair trends before, but  one I’ve noticed cropping up this season is rocking short lockes.  Celebrities like Megan Fox and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting have chopped their long hair to rock super cute and very sassy hair-dos. They’ve proven that short can be the new sexxy. There’s a sense of creative freedom going against the notion of ‘longer is better’ in a way that gets you noticed.

And who doesn’t want that?

My Lips Are Getting Schooled With Makeup Academy Cosmetics

MUA Lipstick

Being the product junkie that I am, I’m always on the lookout for the next best affordable thing. I say affordable because I’m always on a budget but that doesn’t mean I want to skimp on quality. Some drugstore level brands can be hit or miss. But when you find one that does work, you seriously stock up! That’s why drugstores like CVS can be a very dangerous (but very fun!) place.

So I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to review some of the products from the exclusive Makeup Academy Brand Shop at CVS. The UK based beauty brand is making its way stateside, with a $4 to $25 price range. They have everything from lip color to professional brushes,  in sleek and expensive looking packaging.

The Color Intense lipstick selection was the first thing that caught my eye, with a wide range of colors from the daytime neutral to the rich and bright.  I had a shade from each extreme and both performed really well. The colors were rich, the lipstick glided on smooth, and the staying power was decent (made it through a day of work!). It didn’t dry my lips out either, which is a major plus.

Makeup Academy Lipstick

Mulberry

Mulberry is a muted burgundy color that’s perfect for a daytime look. The barely there look is so on trend this Fall and this shade is just a kiss of color if the nude lip is not your thing.

Makeup Academy Lipstick

Coral

Coral on the other hand is like a bold dose of summer I don’t want to let go off. It’s just the right shade of orange, looking just as vibrant on my lips than it does in the tube.

To get the deets on their lip sugar scrub, check out this past Fierce newsletter. While you’re there, make sure you sign up! I have an exclusive review of their makeup brush coming up in a future issue.

Four Fierce Fall Hair Trends

Hair Styles

Though the temps aren’t letting up (at least down here anyway) this weekend marked the official end of summer. These past two weeks for me have been the epitome of the Fall season – colorful changes and ending the year on a high note. And as such, I’m embracing these exciting changes on all fronts. My wardrobe is as Fall ready as ever and now it’s time to do something different with this hair. Like many of you, I’m looking at the season’s latest trends for the season.

This year fall fashion designers have been on the ball, re-imagining old trends while staying true to the classics. While the Fall is usually about slicked back hair and business worthy updos, this year there’s more style variety to go around. I’ll show you what I mean!

Renewed Style

Remember this hair style from a few seasons back? Instead of loading our hair up with ton’s of gel and pulling it back super tight, we can go the Roberto Cavalli route. No need for it to be super perfect but rather a laid back kinda of vibe that’s still chic and trendy.

If sleek and chic is more your thing (even I have my moments!) then this trend is worth a try. A crisp center part and a really laid ponytail can work anywhere from the office to Happy Hour. It’s also the perfect hairstyle to rock metallic eyeshadow or berry red lipstick.

Not ready to let go of the summer just yet? Then rock soft waves like the models in Chloe Fall fashion show. The key is to keep them smooth so they don’t look like you spent your morning on a windy beach.

If you’re going to have sixties inspired fashion, you have to have the hair to go with it right? Channel your inner Joan Crawford or Megan Draper with a side swept bang and well placed bouffant. If you’re really looking for a change, go short with an asymmetrical bob.

Fierce Natural Hair: Straight and Sleek

One of the beautiful things about the natural hair life is the styling versatility that comes with it. We can rock short curls, long curls, and big-hair-don’t-care afros without doing any major things to our hair. We can also sport our length and go for a sleek, straight look.

Now I know many curly girls have sworn off all types of heat but for me, every once and awhile doesn’t hurt. I look at it this way: my hair can take a little heat every now and again. Besides, I work hard to get it this long and I wanna show it off every now and again!

Best thing about this style is you don’t even have to wait to have super long hair. It’s just as cute (and just as fierce) if you’re growing out your TWA.
