My Fall Fashion Black List

The Black List

TV has been making a major comeback the past few years giving us plenty of new shows to love. One of them is NBC’s break out hit The Black List. James Spader is an absolute genius (I firmly believe this role was made just for him). I’ve been glued to this show since the pilot and with the season 2 premiering Monday, to say I’m excited is an understatement.

I had to put together my own Fall Fashion Black List, a collection of 8 fashion items that will elude me and my wallet all season. Unfortunately I don’t have Red as a dad (c’mon, we all know he’s Lizzy’s dad!) so I’ll just dream for now.

Nine Boots To Fall In Love With

Fall Fashion

It’s officially Fall ladies so let’s talk shoes! I’m more than a little ready to put the sandals up and wear something more cooler weather ready. Granted, it’s still 90+ degrees down here but a girl can dream, can’t she?

When it comes to boots, I look for something with a bit of edge (like buckles or zipper details, the right amount of height (nothing that’s borderline trashy), and unexpected colors. With fashion trends like leopard print and casual chic style, the right pair boots can make all the difference between a good outfit and a fierce one!

Here are nine picks that totally fit the bill.

(Right to Left)

  1. H&M Ankle Boot
  2. Wallis Fashion Black Platform Shoe Boot
  3. Pink & Pepper Rapper Wide Calf Riding Boot
  4. DOLCE by Mojo Moxy Kiwi Boot
  5. Kelly & Katie April Bootie
  6. Studded & Cuffed Stiletto Lace-Up Booties Charlotte Russe
  7. Wet Seal Slouchy Heeled Buckle Boots
  8. MIA Gale Women’s Pull-on Boots
  9. FERGALICIOUS Women Believin Boots

Four Fierce Fall Hair Trends

Hair Styles

Though the temps aren’t letting up (at least down here anyway) this weekend marked the official end of summer. These past two weeks for me have been the epitome of the Fall season – colorful changes and ending the year on a high note. And as such, I’m embracing these exciting changes on all fronts. My wardrobe is as Fall ready as ever and now it’s time to do something different with this hair. Like many of you, I’m looking at the season’s latest trends for the season.

This year fall fashion designers have been on the ball, re-imagining old trends while staying true to the classics. While the Fall is usually about slicked back hair and business worthy updos, this year there’s more style variety to go around. I’ll show you what I mean!

Renewed Style

Remember this hair style from a few seasons back? Instead of loading our hair up with ton’s of gel and pulling it back super tight, we can go the Roberto Cavalli route. No need for it to be super perfect but rather a laid back kinda of vibe that’s still chic and trendy.

Slicked Back Center Part

If sleek and chic is more your thing (even I have my moments!) then this trend is worth a try. A crisp center part and a really laid ponytail can work anywhere from the office to Happy Hour. It’s also the perfect hairstyle to rock metallic eyeshadow or berry red lipstick.

Not ready to let go of the summer just yet? Then rock soft waves like the models in Chloe Fall fashion show. The key is to keep them smooth so they don’t look like you spent your morning on a windy beach.

If you’re going to have sixties inspired fashion, you have to have the hair to go with it right? Channel your inner Joan Crawford or Megan Draper with a side swept bang and well placed bouffant. If you’re really looking for a change, go short with an asymmetrical bob.

How To Rock Leopard The Right Way

Fall Fashion 2014

Okay, so we all know that leopard print is a big trend this fall. We love how it looked on the runways, on a favorite bloggers, and on the girls rocking it on Pinterest. But then the question becomes, how in the world do I rock it right without looking crazy? When it comes to any trend, your comfort level is a key factor to pulling it off.

If you just want to tip your toes in the animal print water, accessories are your best friend. Purses, shoes, belts, scarves – the possibilities are endless in this department. Finish your favorite outfit with a touch of leopard and you’re well on your way to embracing the trend. Ready for some better news? You can literally wear it with any color.

For The Middle of the Road Fashionistas

This is the category that I fall into. I don’t like to go all the way in with a trend but I’m not scared of it either. So if you’re like me, getting separates in this print is a good move. A blouse, skirt, or cardigan in leopard that plays well with what you already own is how you can rock this print without stepping way out of your style comfort zone. The key here is to make sure that piece is the star of the show, keeping everything else on the neutral side of fashion life.

Alright, for my girls who are ready to go all in there are really no hard and fast rules for you! Big coats, long dresses, and even high-waisted pants in this leopard print are a serious fall fashion do for you. For an even bolder look, mix in some bold colored accessories like red pumps or rock the print from head to toe.

So how do you plan to rock leopard print this Fall?

Six Things You Need In Your Makeup Bag This Fall

Fall Beauty Trends

Labor Day is officially a week away signaling the end of summer and the beginning of another stylish season. Along with the end of summer parties and fitting in last minute vacays is the switching out of closets and makeup bags. I’m even on the ball when it comes to that, taking the time to clean out my makeup drawers to make room for new and fun fall things. And, as with every new season on this piece of the blogosphere, it’s time for another “Six Things You Need” feature.

What does the Fall have in store when it comes to makeup? In a few words – retro, metallics, barely there beauty, and plenty of pretty fall colors

Fall Inspired Eyeshadow Palette

Makeup brands have already released their Fall makeup collections and one thing they have in common are eyeshadow palettes filled with beautiful shades that scream autumn leaves and cooler weather. Dark greens, matte purples, and daytime nudes are all you need to get through this season looking gorgeous and on trend.

Nude Lipstick

If red lipstick just isn’t your thing then a nude color is the way to go. Balenciaga’s minimalist take on beauty can easily translate into real life, with the right foundation and a beautiful nude lip that works for every single occasion.

Black Gel Eyeliner

Remember the swinging sixties trend I told you about last week? The retro trend is carrying over into the Fall beauty world with thick lined eyes and exaggerated cat eyes. Black liner will be your best friend this season, the gel formula making it easy to get the dramatic look you want and the staying power you need.

False Eyelashes

Designers like Versace and Prada had their models sporting some over the top lashes on their Fall runways. While we don’t want to look like we’re rocking spiders on our eyes, there are other options to voluminous lashes than just mascara. I took the leap into false lashes land and it was a really fun and easy trip! Definitely worth getting a pair for your beauty bag.

Metallic Eyeshadow

Another big beauty trend on the fall fashion runways was metallic eyeshadow – from shimmery bronze to iced out silvers. Having these shadows on hand gives you a nice break from the traditional seasonal colors and add some beautiful drama to your life.

Concealer

If you’re going to go for the barely there look you gotta keep it flawless, making concealer is absolute essential for your makeup bag. Pat some under those eyes and cover off those dark spots before setting it with a pressed powder.

Your turn! What are you beauty bag essentials for Fall?
