Beauty Blast: The Pure Paradise Collection from Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body Works

I’m still in shock that it’s August already and the summer is winding down.  Before you know it, they’ll be sweaters and Halloween decorations on store racks and shelves.    My mind can’t even go that far ahead yet so for now I’m going to keep the summer times rolling with today’s Beauty Blast.

Over the past month, I had the opportunity to try out the Pure Paradise collection from Bath and Body Works.  The skincare trio screams summer days by the beach with notes of guava, cassis, and fresh star fruit.   The scents of all three are refreshing and light, with the right amount of fruity fragrance.  Even when you used all three together the fragrances weren’t too much.  The shower gel  left my skin clean without drying it out, giving me plenty of lather to play with!  The body lotion gave me soft and sweet smelling skin while giving it the moisture it needs on a daily basis.   The Fine Fragrance Mist is the finishing touch with the most fragrance power.  Whether I’m heading out for the day or heading to bed I loved spraying this on!  It was something sweet to look forward to, imagining myself on someone’s resort with a drink in my hand and not a care in the world!

Beauty Blast: The Spring VoxBox from Influenster

I’ve already raved about the Sheer Cover Duo Concealer that came with my Beauty VoxBox and today I wanted to share my thoughts on the other items I received.  The box’s theme was all about beauty, with products much more in line with what I use than the last box I received.

First, the shining stars:

Bath and Body Works Fragrance Mist Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Mist from Bath and Body Works

If you’ve been a long time reader, you know that I’m a big Bath and Body Works fan.  From Pearberry body wash to Cherry Blossom body mist, I’ve bought them all (those sales get me everytime!)  I’ve rarely found a scent I really didn’t like and this one is no exception.  I’m going light with my fragrances this season and this one is perfect for me, with a light flowery scent that doesn’t try too hard to be noticed.  The sleek bottle is a step up from their normal body sprays, which looks very pretty on my dresser.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash

My mom has been a big fan of Aveeno, one of the few body washes her sensitive skin loves.  I never had a big issue with sensitive until I became pregnant and now it’s prone to super dryness and itchiness as it stretches to accommodate the princess.  After using this body wash for over a week now, I understand what my mom was talking about!  I noticed a big difference in not only how more moisturized my skin is but the itchiness factor has gone way down.  I see a full sized bottle of this one in my immediate future!

Dr. Scholls for Her Ball of Foot Inserts

I didn’t even have to try these out because I already own a pair of these babies (as well as the full size inserts).  It seems like ever since I hit 30, my foot tolerance for stiletto heels have been steadily going down.  They provide the cushioning I need to stay pain free in my heels, which come in handy for blogger events.  They are also easy to use, don’t slip around, and feel nice and squishy under my feet.

The Not So Shining Stars

chapstickLip Shield 365 from Chapstick

I was really surprised with this one because Chapstick has always been a great brand for me.  However, I found this one was not moisturizing as I needed to be and I found myself going to my old lip balms to get the relief I needed.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Confession:  I am not a big manicure person.  Back in the day I went to the salon to get my full set tips done and after that, I was at the salon getting manicures done.  I’ve tried doing my own but they never come out the way I want them too.  This product from Sally Hansen I thought would make my life easier but it ended up being a sticky mess, unable to get them on my nail like I wanted them too.  Getting them off was no fun either.  I also found the design I bit too loud for my taste.

SoyJoy Fruit Bar in Blueberry

I was a bit confused at the fruit bar that was put into this otherwise beauty themed box but I gave it try anyway.  I thought it would be sweeter given the big chunks of blueberry in it.  I also wasn’t crazy about the baked soy, finding it a bit dry and lacking flavor.

Goodies from Bath and Body Works to get You in the Turkey Day Mood

Is it just me or did we just celebrate Labor Day??  Man these days are flying by and living in a state where there isn’t much of temp change makes the holidays creep up even faster.  The NYC girl in me misses the falling leaves, the slight chill in the air, and the smell of pine combs this time of year.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the constant sunshine but when Thanksgiving and Christmas come around, I really need Fall time things to feels like holidays are here.  While I won’t find things like pine trees and snow flurries in South Florida, I can at least bring in some cool house décor to spruce things up and get me in the Thanksgiving mood.  These hand soaps from Bath and Body works did an awesome job bringing the Halloween spirit into my new digs so I was excited to review their foaming cleansers and the Slatkin and Co candle that was made just for this time of year.

Bath and Body Works Candle

Slatkin & Co. Candle in  Fresh Balsam ($19.50)

My husband and I are a little addicted to home fragrances.  There’s nothing nicer than having our home smell awesome when we get up, go to sleep, come home, or whenever!   A week or so ago, the temps went down to sixty degrees and I got so excited that I came home and lit this candle to get some Fall into the house.  With balsam fir blends, fresh eucalyptus, and sweet pine with notes of bright apple, cedarwood, and musk, this candle did not disappoint!  It smelled as if we had snow-tipped pine trees in our living room giving off a pleasant and welcoming scent that wasn’t overwhelming.  Even when the candle wasn’t lit, you get a nice scent when you walked by it.  It reminded me of the chilly days in Queens as a kid and I love it!  This was my favorite product out of the bunch!

Bath and Body Works Foam Cleansers

Bath and Body Works Foaming Cleansers in Caramel Apple, Orchard Leaves, and Pumpkin Latte ($5.50 each)

The bottles of these cleansers stayed true to the season with great fall colors that look great in your bathrooms or kitchens.  All the cleansers did the job, leaving my hands clean with over drying them.  Out of the three, the Orchard Leaves was my favorite, a scent of red apple, spiced cider and cinnamon sticks.   Like the candle, the fragrance is gentle and sweet and I liked smelling my hands afterwards!  Caramel Apple (which seems to be the hubby’s favorite!)  is a little stronger, smelling more like Caramel than apple.  It also doesn’t help that I’m not a big caramel lover so I didn’t use this one too much.  The Pumpkin Latte, which is what I really wanted like, was way too strong for me.  You get  a burst of Pumpkin flavored coffee as soon as it leaves the bottle and I realized that I like that kind of coffee in my mug and not on my hands.

What are your favorite items from Bath and Body Works?

Just a heads up, they have their Christmas products out now so check those out if you can’t get your hands on these cleansers.  If you bought any, let me know how you liked them!

Beauty Blast: Bath & Body Works Halloween Spook-tacular Boo-tique

It’s almost Halloween and to keep the spirit of this fun holiday going, we’re taking a look at some of the spooky inspired skin care items from Bath and Body Works.  I’ve been a long time fan of their products (Pearberry! Holla!) So when I had the opportunity to review their Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap and their Sanitizing Hand Gel I was pretty excited!

So let’s get to it!

Foaming cleanser

Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Green Apple Candy ($5.50)

Can I just say that I am in love with the funky skeleton on the bottle?  It is so cute!  I swapped out the antibacterial soap I have by my kitchen sink for this one and it’s a great way to bring a little Halloween swag into the room.  One night my power went out and I discovered that it also glows in the dark! How fun is that?  As for the cleanser itself, it’s very light and foamy and gets my hands nice and clean.  The scent is a mixture of watermelon and cantaloupe which always reminds me of sour apple BlowPops.  It’s not overwhelming and your hands don’t smell like candy for a long period of time.  Many times when I’m seasoning food I can wash my hands and they still smell like garlic, onions, and all that.  When I wash my hands with this, all of those unpleasant smells go away real fast and I love that.  My husband uses it all the time too and he’s not a fan of overly fruity things (so it’s also man friendly! J ).

Hand Sanitizer

Anti-BacterialPocketBac® Sanitizing Hand Gel in Sour Drop

There are many times when hand sanitizer is really good to have when you’re on the go.  Between pumping gas, before and after eating out, etc.  keeping those hands germ free is essential.  I’ve used this one on quite a few occasions and just like the hand soap, the bottle has a super cute design that makes a great accessory to have in your bag.  The scent is just as fun, once again reminding me of candy but not overwhelming.  My hands also don’t feel dry afterwards and the gel evaporates quickly so you can go about your day.

Bath and Body Works never fails to disappoint and these Halloween Boo-tique products are no different.  I’m using these cleansers all the time and even after they’re done I will be keeping the bottles because they are adorable and glow in the dark!

Is this something you would give a whirl?
