The Scandal Collection From The Limited Is Out And It’s Fierce!!

As if this week couldn’t get any better! Fall TV is back, including my favorite TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy,The Black List, and Scandal. My bottle of red wine has been chilling since the jaw-dropping season 3 finale. And then, my fashion prayers were answered when the Scandal fashion collection from The Limited dropped today.

And it’s freaking amazing!

I’ve been drooling over this since the first looks leaked and now that it’s official in stores, this girl right here is saving up her pennies to get my hands on some of these pieces (and praying really hard that XL fits me!)

Trust me I love every single piece but these babies stood out to me the most.

How To Rock Leopard The Right Way

Fall Fashion 2014

Okay, so we all know that leopard print is a big trend this fall. We love how it looked on the runways, on a favorite bloggers, and on the girls rocking it on Pinterest. But then the question becomes, how in the world do I rock it right without looking crazy? When it comes to any trend, your comfort level is a key factor to pulling it off.

If you just want to tip your toes in the animal print water, accessories are your best friend. Purses, shoes, belts, scarves – the possibilities are endless in this department. Finish your favorite outfit with a touch of leopard and you’re well on your way to embracing the trend. Ready for some better news? You can literally wear it with any color.

This is the category that I fall into. I don’t like to go all the way in with a trend but I’m not scared of it either. So if you’re like me, getting separates in this print is a good move. A blouse, skirt, or cardigan in leopard that plays well with what you already own is how you can rock this print without stepping way out of your style comfort zone. The key here is to make sure that piece is the star of the show, keeping everything else on the neutral side of fashion life.

Alright, for my girls who are ready to go all in there are really no hard and fast rules for you! Big coats, long dresses, and even high-waisted pants in this leopard print are a serious fall fashion do for you. For an even bolder look, mix in some bold colored accessories like red pumps or rock the print from head to toe.

So how do you plan to rock leopard print this Fall?

As hard as I’ve tried to try to get back into my love affair with all shoes that are at least 3 inches tall I’ve finally given up. Flat shoes are now my life. How to Keep From Going Broke This Summer

Saving Money

www.blaqvixenbeauty.com

It’s been almost 2 years since I left the workforce to do the stay-at-home mom/freelance thing and my wardrobe has been in flux ever since. Going from professional work wear to everyday casual is not easy, especially if you don’t want to rock sweats every day.  Coupled with the fact that I’m losing weight (Yay!) and I’m on a serious budget, makes things very interesting in the shopping department.

This summer is no different, the temps rising and all I have to show for it are a few pairs of shorts, two tank tops that aren’t stained, and no kind of open toed sandals (flip flops don’t count!). All of my dresses are too big and my old work tops won’t last 2 minutes with my toddler at the park. So needless to say, your girl has some shopping to do.

But I have to be smart about it and so should you! No sense going broke for just a few months of seasonal wear, right? So here’s what you can do to keep from breaking the bank when it comes to summer shopping.

Take Stock of Your Closet

Sometimes we girls we don’t know what we have, basing our shopping list on what we see in ads and on blogs. A lot of times we feel like we have nothing to wear because we just can’t see what we have.  So take some times, go through that closet and really figure out what you have. Can that ill fitting dress be altered? Find a pair of shorts you’ve forgotten all about? Can you repurpose those old sandals. Take a good inventory of what you already own so you don’t end up wasting your money.

Know What You’re Shopping For Before You Hit the Stores

Now that you know what you have, you can make a list of clothes and accessories you need this summer before you go shopping. We all know how easy it is to go to the store for one thing and come out with a whole bunch of other stuff that you didn’t really need (and spending money you really didn’t have). The same way you go to the grocery store armed with a list so you can ward off temptation, you should do the same when you hit the mall.

Email Newsletters Are Your Friend

With a hectic schedule it’s hard to keep up with all of our favorite stores and when they have sales. That’s why signing up for their email newsletters is the way to go. It’s an easy and painless way to keep up with sales and promotions that can save you even more money on your summer wish list.

Get Fashion Jewelry to Dress Up What You Already Have

This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to spice up your fashion life. Stores like Charlotte Russe and Claire’s always have great deals on earrings, statement necklaces, and other fun accessories that incorporate any trend into your wardrobe for just a few bucks.  (See how they transform this dress into 3 different outfits).

If You Can’t Make At Least Two Outfits Out Of It, Leave It

So you have your list, found what you were looking for in the store or online, and it’s on sale. The next question you should ask yourself how well it can play with the other clothes in your closet.  When you’re on a budget, you have to make the most out of everything. Now I’m not saying it has to be boring and void of all color, but figuring out how to make at least two outfits with clothes you already own makes sure that you’re getting the most bang for your buck!

Your turn! How do you save money when shopping for clothes?
