The Avon Voices Finale is Almost Here!

Avon Voices Global Launch EventAfter eleven months, three rounds, and 2.5 million votes the ten finalists will be competing one last time. It had to have been one amazing ride since submitting their first entries and now they will perform tonight at the Hard Rock Café in New York City.  Celebrity judges like Natasha Bedingfield and Fergie will be picking the winners.

If you’ve been following the contest with me so far, you already know it’s going to be a very tough decision and the finalists must be super nervous!  Two winners will be chosen based on a combination of the votes they received and their live performance. To help feed our need to know what goes on behind the scenes, Avon Voices is inviting all you ladies to ask all those burning questions.  All you have to do to ask your favorite celebrity judge, finalist, or Andrea Jung herself is to tweet your questions using the hashtag #avon125 along with judge’s or finalists name.  The best part?  Your questions will be answered live during the The Avon Foundation for Women – Global Voices for Change Awards Gala this Wednesday November 2.

The even cooler part?  You can watch them not only answer your question during the Red Carpet eventsbut the entire Gala right here on Fierce!  The event will be held at the Marriot Marqis in New York City, where the Avon Foundation will honor international organizations that lead the charge in Breast Cancer research and ending violence against women.

To make sure you don’t miss a thing, follow AvonVoices and me on twitter so you know when you can come on over and tune in!  In the meantime, make sure you tweet out those questions!

Just to recap, the 23 semi finalists that were flown to Hollywood.  They received glamorous makeovers, individual singing lessons from two of the music industries finest, and recorded their finalist videos.  After a few weeks of voting the group of 23 has been narrowed down to 10.  I can only imagine how tough it was to select from so many talented women! From watching the behind the scenes Livestream and getting on the Avon voices site to see their videos, I was amazed by the talent and passion these women had.  “Watching these amazingly talented women reach for their dreams over the past 10 months has been a tremendous source of inspiration for our 40,000 Avon Associates and 6.5 million Avon Representatives around the world,” said Joe Billone, Vice President, Global Representative Branding & Communications, Avon Products, Inc.  “We are so proud of the 10 Finalists who truly embody women’s empowerment and while there will only be two official winners of the talent search, all of our global Contenders have felt as though they’ve already won, having been on this once-in-a-lifetime journey with Avon Voices.”

Fierce News: The Avon Voices Finalists Hit Hollywood

Avon Voices

Since I last told you ladies about the Avon Voices Contest, the 23 finalists were flown to Hollywood, California to record their final performance videos.  Not only did they get a fab makeover (still jealous!), professional photo shoots as well as the opportunity to have their own personal coaching sessions with two of the celebrity judges, David Pack, a Grammy award-winning singer/composer and music producer,  and Maia, a Columbian music star.  The video below gives you the complete Hollywood scoop!  (Aren’t those makeovers amazing?!)

Normally with singing contests we get little snippets here and there of the contestants practicing and then it’s on to the final performance.  Avon was awesome enough to LiveStream some of the one on one sessions so we could get a unique look behind the scenes.  I checked them out myself and not only did I get to learn a little more about the finalists but the judges as well! I thought they were very warm, welcoming and extremely encouraging!  Now it wasn’t the Paula Abdul niceness that became a little annoying on American Idol but rather the sandwich method of giving advice (start off with compliments, then constructive criticism followed by more encouraging compliments). They made the finalists feel good while giving them good, sound advice. I’m not a singer by any means, but I learned a lot from their advice.  David Pack equated singing with acting in the sense that a singer has to evoke emotion on cue, which looks really hard to do! Maia took some contestants through the lyrics to make sure their words were clear and were full of the right emotion while they sang.  She even showed off her amazing singing voice (while rocking these fabulous shoes!  You have to check them out) You could see that the finalists were listening, some showing improvement rather quickly.  With pro advice in hand, they recorded their videos in front of a live audience.

Voting is officially on so check them out their videos and cast your vote!  You only have until  August 26 (may seem like a long way off, but you know how time can sneak up on you!)

Have you checked out the livestreams?  What did you think of the finalists and their coaches? I wanna know who your favorites are!

If you remember a few weeks back, I let you guys in on the singing contest that Avon had going on. To I’ve personally been on their site to vote for the second round and I have to say the talent is amazing! I love to see a beauty brand give back to the community that supports them and that’s why I’m happy to announce that I’m teaming up with Avon Voices in covering this awesome contest.  That means that I can give you guys the latest Avon Voices news, inside scoop, and interviews until the final two winners are announced in November.  Those two ladies will have the opportunity to record a professionally produced album, of which a percentage of the record sales will go help fund the Avon Foundation for Women’s global campaign to end violence against girls and women.

If you didn’t get a chance to check out the entrants, you still have plenty of time to get your votes in.  After over 2.2 million online votes, we are officially in the 3rd round, where 100 contenders have been narrowed down to 25 finalists from 19 countries.  “We are so proud of these 25 women – they have inspired us all with their extraordinary talent and beautiful and diverse stories,” said Joe Billone, Vice President, Global Communications for Avon Products, Inc.  “We are so appreciative of the worldwide support from online voters around the world, and encourage everyone to continue supporting their favorite contenders to help make their dreams come true.”

They all get the awesome opportunity to fly to Hollywood to not only record their final performance videos, but receive an Avon makeover, professional voice coaching, and meet some of the celebrity judges.  Just in case you don’t remember the all star judge panel, it includes Fergie, Dianne Warren, Natasha Bedingfield, Lea Solanga, Valeryia, Delta Goodrem, Sheila E, David Pack, Ivete Sangalo, and Maia. (I may not be able to sing but I would gladly take the celeb meet and greet and makeover! J Just sayin!)
