As much as I love bold and in your face lip color, there are those times when a subtle yet pretty lipstick is just what we need. Whether we’re rocking super bold eyes or going for a barely there look finding a color that’s soft and noticeable can be a challenge. I used to have that with lip glosses, but lately I’ve been striking out big time! A color looks gorgeous in a bottle and even on a lighter skin model. However, once I put it on I get clear sheen (yeah, so disappointing!).
So I’m back on the lipstick train and during a major holiday haul, I bought e.l.f’s Studio Moisturizing Lipstick. They had me at “moisturizing”, these lips needing all the nourishment it can get! I admit, I was originally searching for a bold, red color but it was sold out. Instead of hitting the back button I took a chance on two colors that I wasn’t sure was going to work for me – Ravishing Rose and Cheeky. I didn’t have anything remotely close to these shades in my lip color drawer and at $3 a pop, I didn’t have much to lose!
Once again, e.l.f did not disappoint!
The lipstick itself is velvety soft, gliding on smooth and creamy color. Instead of a rich and instant color, it takes a few swipes to get the intensity of color you want. It also has good staying power, surviving a meal (which is a tall order for a $3 lipstick).
The shades themselves are perfect for Spring, especially if the orange lip trend is not your thing. Ravishing Rose gives your pout just the right flush of color while Cheeky makes it easy to pull off a natural look.
Have you tried any of e.l.f’s lipsticks? Which ones are your favorites?
