Now, I when I get ready to review a product I try not to set my expectations too high. Being disappointed is so not fun! But, when I received the opportunity to review products that recently made it on Oprah’s list of favorite things, not being a little excited. I mean, who can go wrong with Oprah?? Anyway, on to the review!
Just in case you don’t know who Andre Walker is, he is a seven-time Emmy award winner and the hair stylist to none other than Oprah herself for the past 25 years. Just last month, he partnered up with HSN to launch his own brand of hair products, which include a Keratin Shampoo, Keratin Conditioner, Q oil, and Hair Make-up (I know, I’ve never heard of that either!). His products include natural ingredients such as whole leaf aloe vera, virgin Moroccan argan oil, green tea leaf extracts, and (as you probably guessed it!) protein building keratin. His hair goodies are also formulated to work with all types of hair in an effort to leave it healthy and manageable.
One of the first things I loved about this shampoo was the scent. It wasn’t too fruity, but rather nice and fresh. After using it for a few weeks, I found it left my hair clean. However, I found the shampoo to be thick – really, really thick. Though the shampoo is described as a type of gel that doesn’t produce much lather, I still thought it was way too hard to apply to my hair during that first wash. Once my hair was rinsed for the second round of washing, it was easier to get it through my hair. I also realized that it left my hair dry, not giving my transitioning hair the moisture it needs.
Having the same pleasant scent as the conditioner, I liked the conditioner a lot better than the shampoo. The consistency was just right, giving a nice conditioning lather that left my hair soft when I was done. I might try a hand at co-washing with this one!
This oil is more of a light serum you use during styling to keep your hair moisturized. I love, love, LOVE the way this oil smells! My hair smells awesome when I put it on! The serum is very light weight, not leaving my hair heavy or greasy at all. My only tiff is I wish it moisturized more. My hair is dry as it is and always needs moisture. So, instead of using it on my dry hair, I would use it on my wet hair before blow drying, to help protect it against the heat.
The way makeup is supposed to enhance your facial features, Walker’s Hair makeup is formulated to enhance your hair’s natural color. It’s available in five shades with a duo applicator and wand. Because my hair is extra finicky as of lately, I didn’t try the hair make up, however I do think it’s a cool concept and won’t mind giving it a whirl once my hair calms down!
