Friend Friday: New Year, New Blog, New You!

One thing I love about coming up to a new year is the opportunity to make it better than the last!  Setting goals and resolutions gives me such focus and getting those goals down on paper (or blog in this instance!) makes it all the more real.  Since my blog turned a year old this past September I’ve always kept in the back of mind things I wanted to try, things I should get rid of, and ways to take Fierce to the next level.  So I’ve been itching for the New Year so I get the show on the road!

What’s the one thing you vow to learn or do in 2011 to improve your blog?

There are actually two things that I vow to learn and to do for 2011 to improve my blog:

 Outfit Posts:

I’ve been itching to do more of these on my blog.  It’s something that is definitely out of my comfort zone and would force me to heighten my fashion senses even more. I can go after a new audience as well as improve the fashion side of my blog, now that I have the beauty thing down!  I’m armed with a good camera and a tripod now so there aren’t any more excuses!  Granted I can’t do one everyday but I can definitely start with once a week.

 Beauty and Fashion Commentary:

I’m so inspired by so many of the blogs in my FBFF circle that have such awesome commentary on fashion issues.  I definitely want to try my hand at that, taking my blog to level above just news and reviews.  Doing these Friend Friday posts these past few months whereI got to  tackle tough issues has been as awesome start and that’s something I definitely want to do for 2011.

What did you learn about blogging in 2010 that you plan to put into practice next year?

The biggest thing I learned about blogging this year is how to effectively network with other bloggers.  Joining the FBFF group has definitely opened me up to that and I plan on discovering a lot more blogs and continue being active on those I visit regularly.

I’ve also learned (after suffering from a bout of blogger burnout)  not to overextend myself.  I have to keep in mind that I don’t have to blog every single day and unnecessarily stress out.  So I plan on managing my calendar better which will mean that I won’t be posting every single day or even twice on one day.  I have a lot of writing projects going on next year and I rather spend the time producing better content than posting every day.

Do you have any high-level goals for your blog in the coming year? Monetization? More comments? More connections with other bloggers? A new template?

More comments and discussion on the blog:  I want to offer  more engaging content and connect with other bloggers and readers.  That means upping my content game  and making networking a whole lot more into the blogosphere.

More blogger connection:  This means discovering and becoming more active on other blogs and blogging networks.  I’ve been a member of IFB for a long time but not as active on it as I should be.  I definitely have to make more time for that!  I also want to seek out more opportunities to guest post as well as have guest bloggers on my site.  Don’t know how I’m going to go about that but I will definitely figure it out!

Becoming More Adventurous and Creative:  Step out of my comfort box, try new things and ideas and find ways to keep myself challenged!

If you could collaborate with one other blogger within your sphere of influence in 2011, who would you like to collaborate with, and what would you like to collaborate on?

It is so hard to name just one because I’ve met such an incredible group of bloggers this past year.  It would be an honor to collaborate with any and all of them at some point in the future.   For the most part I follow fashion bloggers so if I ever had the pleasure collaborating with any of them (you can see them all on my Link Love page!) it would probably be a fashion related story.

What do you plan to do to support other bloggers next year?

I plan to continue visiting new as well as my regular blogging peeps and comment as much as I can.   As I said earlier I want to develop a way to have some guest bloggers on my blog and definitely return the favor!

What about you? What are your goals for 2011?

It seems the theme of all the fbff posts is community so far which I think is awesome. Thats the bit I like best about blogging interacting and connecting with other bloggers. FBFF and IFB have been brilliant for this.
