Friend Friday: Fashion Do’s and Don’ts

Friend Friday is back here on Fierce (the last two weeks have been cray cray (another level of crazy! LOL)!

This week we’re talking about fashion do’s and don’t’s.  Forgive me if l sound more opinionated than normal but I’m just being honest! :)

What do you thin are some of the top fashion don’ts? (Things you would never be caught dead in and cringe when other people wear them.)

Some of my top fashion don’ts would include:

Crocs – I never understood the fascination with these ugly, chunky rubber shoes.  I understand comfort, but you wouldn’t wear terry slippers everywhere you go!

Mid-drift shirts – that was sooo 1980’s and even 1990’s, it’s time to let it go!

Gladiator Sandals – I never liked these type of shoes.  To me, it barely looks like you have anything on and I get bad flashbacks of those overly strappy shoes I was made to wear as a kid!

Socks with shoes – I’ve seen some cute socks and some cute shoes, but I don’t think I’ll be ok with putting the two together.  I can blame that on wearing those frilly socks and patent leather shoes as a little girl.  This goes double for men wearing socks and sandals!  I cringe with that most of all!

What previous fashion don’t do you now wear with pride?

Hmm…this is a tough one.  Well for me, I swore off leggings after rocking them in middle school. It was one of those things I didn’t want to revisit when I got older.  Then a while ago, I went on a limb, bought some black leggings and I found myself back on the legging wagon! LOL.  I plan on getting a pair or two more.

Do you think there is a universal fashion do?

A definite universal fashion do is wearing a pencil skirt for professional wear.  Anybody can wear it, it always looks professional and feminine, and goes with practically everything!  You can’t go wrong with a black pencil skirt!

What items lately, either recently in style or coming in now, do you think should never make it off the retail shelves?

I have never been a fan of those peep toe boots that are a crazy love child of the one toe sandal and boots.  I honestly don’t think they are flattering at all.  Either you wear sandals or wear boots – just pick one! LOL

In your opinion, is there any blogger, fashion icon, celebrity who somehow manages to pull off some fashion don’ts and still look good?

I think Cher is one of those women that can wear any outrageous thing under the sun and can pull it off effortlessly!  There are certain things (like that see through number she brought back at the MTV Video Music Awards) that are reserved for Cher and Cher alone!

Really, you don’t like gladiator sandals? But some of them are so cute! But I totally agree with the other nos on your list. Sometimes I think there must be a shortage of mirrors in households, or maybe just s shortage of common sense. – Katy

What’s funny is when Crocs first came out, the stock skyrocketed! It’s pretty low now. I think the only people who can get away with wearing them is nurses (and only while at work!)

My fashion no no is people PLEASE stop wearing white after labor day. This is a long time no no but people seem to disregard it later.

AS for leggings, I’ll wear them forever LOL underneath stuff but not just by themselves.

I dunno, I think white can pass after labor day. There are so many winter whites out there (more creamy in color than just bright white) that look really good in winter.
