How to get a Natural Look When You Have Naturally Dark Skin

Though I absolutely love rocking bold makeup colors which are all the rage this season (especially eyeshadow just in case you didn’t know!), the summer also calls for natural and barely-there beauty looks.  I’ve been checking out the latest tips and product advice (like the great tips I received from my interview with Jillian Dempsey) and after experimenting this weekend for a dinner date with my auntie, I put together a great natural look and just had to share!

If you haven’t already, make sure you switch out your heavy winter foundations for lighter ones. I actually stop with the foundation altogether and use a tinted moisturizer instead To control shine on my T-Zone, I used pressed powder and for some shimmer, I lightly apply bronzer on the bridge of my nose and around my hair line.

If you’re skin has a red undertone, bring it out with a little rose colored blush on the apples of your cheeks.

For those of us who have darker skin around our eyes, a creamy white eyeshadow is such a lifesaver! Apply some of that to your lids as well as the arch of your eyebrows and you have an instant brightener! It also helps pick up any other eyeshadow colors you that you may not see on your eyelids if applied alone.  Next, have a shimmery bronze eyeshadow on the crease and corners of your eyes as well as shimmery chocolate color on your brow bone.  To add color under my eyes, I used a bronze liner (thin line from the inside corner to the middle of your eye) and the same bronze shadow (under the whole lash line) and blended it out.  Finish off with your favorite black mascara!

I’m a lip gloss kinda girl, so I used a nice nude gloss with some shimmer and sparkle.

Here’s a rundown of the products I used:
