All of we ladies can agree that it is awesome being a woman! The freedom to dress up just because, master the art of multi-tasking, pay crazy attention to detail, and the right to change our minds whenever we want to! The United Nations recognizes this as well and has recognized International Women’s Day for the past fifteen years! In recognition of International Woman’s, Vital Voices Global Partnership, a leading international NGO will be hosting a week-long series of events that focuses on the empowerment of women through economic opportunities as well as highlighting the crucial role that women and men play in combating violence against women.
Though you and I may know the power and value of being a woman, unfortunately not all people do. This lack of ignorance, unawareness, and misinformation has resulted in a worldwide problem – violence against women. For the next three days, I will be bringing you news, video, interviews and commentary from the The Global Partnership to End Violence Against Women. This global summit kicks off today and will focus on developing new strategies to address all forms of worldwide violence against women including domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Hosting this event is Avon Global Ambassador Reese Witherspoon, Avon CEO Andrea Jung, the Vital Voices Global Partnership, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer and leaders from 20 nations. Also during this conference, a $2 million public-private partnership will be announced between Vital Voices, Avon, and the US State Department to help address this ever-present problem that affects all of us.
I am so honored to be able to do my part in helping this amazing cause! We have to help spread the word about such atrocities and let our fellow ladies know just how powerful they are. At the end of the day, my goal as a writer, a beauty blogger, and a human being is help women feel beautiful about themselves from the inside out!
